Remembering Mom on Mother’s Day

My name is Tami Ambridge and I am the Lehi Rod Works manager. I have been here for two and a half years. I know so many of you, not by name, but by your smiling faces and the things you have picked out for your homes.
I have had the privilege of meeting so many mothers and daughters who come to the store to shop together. I lost my precious mom three years ago. She was a huge light in my life and I miss her daily.

I can’t express the beautiful heart my mom had and how she loved me. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have had her as my mom. Unconditional love was the sweetest gift she gave to me. Mom and I loved to shop together. She enjoyed wandering around stores and finding fun little things to buy to decorate her home. We used to live in California and she and I would come to the Lehi Rod Works every time we traveled to Utah. She loved the store and so did I. Now, as I walk through the store each day, I see things that remind me of her and it makes me smile!
Having the privilege of seeing and hearing a woman in my store say, “hey mom, look how cute this is” simply warms my heart. I hope you both, (mom and daughter) know how lucky you are to still have one another.
There is a canvas sign in the store that reads, Enjoy the little things in life…for one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things. Keep shopping together girls…that is a very big thing!

Accent Furniture Pieces

Rod Works has been receiving tons of awesome new stuff every week and it’s hard to decide which stuff to show off! But I decided to show you all the super cool accent furniture pieces that we have just got in. And we got a lot!! So I have this problem where I just moved into a new house and I have a ton of decor…just no where to put it. So these new furniture pieces are perfect because their all different sizes, so multi purpose, and all different colors which I love! Having all black and brown furniture really dulls up the room. So add a pop of color with a table here and there and you have something that no one else has.

How cute would one of these fun tables be as a small entry way table to put your keys and mail on?! Or in the bathroom in the corner to hold all your towels and bathroom cuteness.

The trunks are my very favorite. The bigger one could work as a coffee table. Put your feet up and relax and store all your warm fuzzy blankets in there. The middle and little trunk would be so cool stacked with a pile of books and some greenery.

How awesome is the suitcase dresser?! I love that! That is the perfect statement piece that would bring so much personality to your home.

There is something about numbers on things that catch my attention every time. So of course this awesome metal furniture piece caught my eye. This would be amazing in a TV room or game room to store your DVDs, Cd’s, and games. And since it’s metal and heavy duty kids can’t really hurt it to bad. Rod Works also received some new metal tables that have fun mismatched drawers and knobs making it super unique. I left off a couple of the other awesome furniture pieces cause I didn’t want to give away all the fun surprises. Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Rod Works is changing up our blog a little bit with some changes we hope you like! First of all you may notice my smiling face to the left…I’m no longer going to just be a faceless advice giver. I have been uncloaked. Next change is our stores are going to be helping out with the blog! Each week a store will be featured with new ideas and tips. Hopefully bringing a wider range of inspiration. We want to be more interactive with you (our customers) so please write to us and give us your ideas, pictures, tips and so forth. We really do love hearing from you!

So here we are again thinking of what to get the most important person in our lives for Mother’s Day. I know we would all love to just go all out for our Mom’s but most of us are on a budget so we have to get creative with our gifts. Well luckily Rod Works has gotten creative for us and all we have to do is decide which creative gift we want to give Mom this year. What I do to get ideas is go down the list of all the many things my mom does for me and what she enjoys. My mom loves cooking and loves to feed people…which I’m sure many of you can relate. So spending time in the kitchen is what she does and who doesn’t like having a pretty kitchen to work in?! Tons of different ideas for that, but I went a step farther. Or maybe she would like a new apron or cook book holder? Salt and pepper shaker caddy, recipe holder, some new linens….the list goes on and on! And lucky for you it can all be found at Rod Works!

Another thing my mom enjoys doing is gardening. I also know my grandma loves it. So I’m guessing it gets passed down quite a bit in families. Next up on the list on what my mom loves, and I’m pretty sure all mom’s out there have the same opinion about this one….Family! My mom loves her family especially her grandkids. Introducing the Vance Kitira Candle Line

Rod Works is very excited to have a new candle line available for you!

These candles are from Vance Kitira who handcraft these candles. Rod
Works is offering three different sizes of pillar timber candles in 12
different colors. These wonderful colored candles are hand poured and have a distress-texture that makes them unique. They also look awesome when they are burning, because they give off a warm glow through out the entire candle. They also have incredible burn times. The wax is odor free and smokeless during burning.

Candles and their friends, the candle stick, are always easy to place in any type of decor and style. When you have them lit it brings such an awesome abiance to the room you won’t want to leave.

One of the favorite colors so far is the Sea Glass. It’s a such a pretty blue which is perfect for entertaining or relaxing.

Kitchen Accessories

Most of us are pretty addicted to Pinterest, the Food Network and those creative food blogs where we all see those yummy desserts and dinners we want to make. Well have you noticed that most of those goodies are displayed in a pretty way?! That’s part of why they look so darn good! Rod Works has designed an exclusive line of kitchen accessories to help you with displaying your food…while being quite functional too! The design of the kitchen accessories are simple because we didn’t want to take the focus away from the main point…food!

These unique pieces were specially designed to fit our bowls and plates but they will also work with most other dish lines. So you can really make it your own special little piece, especially around holidays and seasons. Just switch out the colors and patterns and you have a totally new look!

One of the coolest pieces is the fruit bowl/rack. This little bugger holds those bananas up high away from the other fruit, which keeps them from being bruised and banged around. But it’s also nice because their is plenty of room in the bowl for all your favorite fruits and veggies.

The standing fruit basket is a good sturdy piece that can be used in many different ways. What makes this piece unique is it is meant to be placed on the floor or on an open bar area. Feel like you have to much on your counter? This is a good solution for such a problem.

The six plate rack is another piece that is quite versatile. It displays your favorite dishes out on your counter while keeping them organized and safe. Or it works well inside your cabinets to keep your dishes organized and safely separated so clinking and clanking is kept to a minimum.

One of the hottest looks right now is Industrial. It’s all about using raw materials that have been aged and beat up a bit. Seeing the nuts and bolts is one of the coolest things about this look. How it is put together and how it works is key to this look. This can be a little bit of a harder look for some people so soften it up with greenery, linens, ribbon and all those little things that make your home your own.

Painted Metal

Things get a little crazy in life sometimes….and a little frustrating. And I believe we have all gotten to the point where we just want to shake something. While shaking my fist at the ceiling one day, I got a little creative idea. What about shaking something worthwhile….like a can of paint, and not just any paint….SPRAY PAINT! Not only are you getting a little frustration out but hearing that clicky clack of the little ball inside that can, you start getting excited about what is about to happen. A BIG CHANGE! And you’re doing it all within just a few minutes.

So I handed some cans of spray paint to a frustrated friend and she came up with some beautiful results in a matter of minutes. She just shook that can till she was happy and then sprayed away! Adding color to any room is easy and you get the color you want. (Oh and once you see the beautiful transformation you will definitely have a smile on your face :)

We all know that the color possibilities are endless and Rod Works has tons of different metal décor that is perfect for such a project. And since most of us are a little picky about what goes in our homes you can choose whatever color your little heart desires! (All the painted items were black, which is perfect but some times you want a little color).

So the moral of this story is….

1. Don’t shake that fist without a can of spray paint in it.
2. Visit Rod Works…it just makes you happy to be there! But don’t forget your perfect metal piece for your project while you’re floating in bliss around the store.
3. Pick that perfect color….don’t be afraid of fun bright colors! They’re good for you! (and if you hate it…re-spray it)
4. Then spray away my friends and be amazed at the awesome results!
